2025 Year in Review

2025 was a foundational year for Cedar Refuge. While much of the work happened behind the scenes, it was an important season of building - laying the groundwork so that when children are welcomed in the future, care can be done safely, responsibly, and with integrity.

Here’s what we were able to accomplish this year:

  • Formed and onboarded our Board of Directors

  • Filed for and received our IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit status

  • Hired Brandyn and Steven as Co-Executive Directors (currently serving in an unpaid capacity)

  • Soft-launched the CANS4KIDS recycling campaign

  • Brought on two steady volunteers to support operations and marketing

  • Established financial systems, controls, and accountability practices

  • Contracted an accountant to support responsible stewardship

  • Conducted field research and conversations with key stakeholders

  • Began developing our brand, messaging, and storytelling

  • Adopted our articles, bylaws, and conflict of interest policies

  • Began planning two events for early 2026

  • Started building our business plan and fundraising infrastructure

  • Launched our website, donation platform, and CRM systems

Each step was taken intentionally with a long-term vision in mind and a deep commitment to doing this work well.

A Look at Our Finances (Since October 2025)

Because of your generosity, Cedar Refuge ended 2025 in a healthy and stable position as we continue building carefully and responsibly.

  • Amount Raised: $23,625.53

  • Expenses: $6,454.05

  • Ending Balance: $17,171.48

*We’re still receiving a few end-of-year donations, so the total amount raised may be higher.

We’ve been intentional about stewarding every dollar, keeping expenses low while focusing on the foundational work needed for long-term impact.
